Revisions
GE Voluson S8 Revisions: BT11 to Present
GE first launched the Voluson S8 in 2011 and designated it as the BT11. The “BT” abbreviation for ultrasounds stands for “Break Through,” and the number (such as 11) designates the year in which the version was launched. The follow-up version, the Voluson S8 BT12, was launched in 2012. The Voluson S8 BT12 improved the image quality but kept the same feature set. Two years later, the GE Voluson S8 BT14 added HDLive as a hardware upgrade option, which improved 3D/4D image quality. This option requires different hardware than the non-HDLive versions of the Voluson S8. Current Voluson S8 versions have such features as a cellular modem kit and MMS/email connectivity. Ultrasound Supply recommends buying a Voluson S8 version of BT14 or higher, preferably with HDLive, because this new technology has become the industry standard.

GE Voluson S8 Maintenance Recommendations

Probes should be properly disinfected after every use with a disinfectant wipe that won’t damage the lens; for tips, review this probe disinfecting article from our parent company, Probo Medical.
